Let’s Have a Party!

I’ve been in Scotland for a few days for a family party.  As I was reading about other celebrations in the newspaper, it occurred to me that there are some standard characteristics of ‘a good do’ that we might compare and contrast.

We went to a special place.

There were lots of flowers and much to drink.

A cake was cut.

Someone wore the now ubiquitous, and possibly compulsory, ‘nude’ shoes, so high she couldn’t walk very far.

The Queen sent a card.

We had big puddings.

And I stayed in a hotel room with a ceiling fan to which I retired only when it was really quite late.

I think that can count as a success.
